Prep soccer playoffs: Osowski nets three in Royals' rout

Assumption sophomore Hannah Osowski scored three goals and assisted on two others, helping the Assumption girls soccer team defeat Southern Door 7-0 in a Division 3 regional semifinal Thursday.
For the first 20 minutes, the Royals had numerous shots go wide of the goal or just over the crossbar, but at 22:51 Osowski received a pass from Molly Sigler and shot low and to the left of goalie Kayla Bosman to give the Assumption a 1-0 lead.
About five minutes later, Osowski scored again on a pass from Rebecca Sigler and beat Bosman on the left again.
"We worked on a lot of things that needed work," Assumption coach John Bingham said. "We'll have a tough game on Saturday. We played St. Mary's earlier and they beat us 2-0 at their place, but we're confident in ourselves."
With six minutes left in the first half Osowski returned the favor to Molly Sigler when she beat Bosman right down the middle of the goal to give the Royals a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Just a little over three minutes into the second half, the Eagles committed a pushing penalty that awarded the Royals a penalty shot.
Without hesitation, Bingham sent senior Liz Sigler to take the shot. Sigler took her shot and put it past the Eagles' goalie.
Less then five minutes later, Ali Chapman received a pass from Osowski and sent the ball bouncing off the cross bar and into the back of the net for a 5-0 lead.
Osowski would complete her hat trick only two minutes later when she burried the ball low and to the right of a diving goal keeper to increase Assumption's lead to 6-0.
"I was surprised to score," Osowski said. "We played well tonight offensively to get a lot of shots on them."
The Royals scored their last goal with five minutes left in the game when Chapman put a pass from Carly Swank in the net.
The Royals advance to play Menasha St. Mary's Central on Saturday.
